Oryginalny film miał premierę w 2018 roku podczas Sundance Film Festival. Netflix kupił prawa do produkcji za kwotę 30 milionów dolarów.
Akcja filmu rozgrywa się w ciągu jednego poranka w dyspozytorni numeru alarmowego 911. Joe Baylor (Jake Gyllenhaal) odsunięty od służby policjant, pracujący jako operator numeru alarmowego, próbuje uratować dzwoniącą kobietę, której grozi śmiertelne niebezpieczeństwo.
