DylanDKT podzielił się na Twitterze odkryciem, że Apple planuje odróżnić modele Pro od pozostałych, podobnie jak było w przypadku iPhone 12 Pro. Duża część tych szczególnych różnic, które iPhone 13 Pro i iPhone 13 Pro Max będą miały w stosunku do zwykłych modeli, to czujniki LiDAR, których Apple używał w wybranych modelach iPada. Czujniki LiDAR wykorzystują technologię Time-of-Flight (ToF) do dokładniejszego pomiaru odległości między czujnikiem a obiektem. Ta technologia poprawi wrażenia z rozszerzonej rzeczywistości na iPhonie i zapewni lepszą głębię niektórych ujęć.
LiDAR will only be coming to the pro iPhone models. Earlier this year it seemed Apple wanted to release all iPhone 13/12S models with LiDAR but due to one reason or another, it won’t be happening this year.

Wokół iPhone’a 13 krążyły hordy plotek, a niektórzy wcześnie mówili, że czujniki LiDAR będą dostępne na całej gamie iPhone’ów 2021. Dylan jednak się z tym nie zgadza. Według jego tweeta „LiDAR pojawi się tylko w modelach pro iPhone’a”. Powiedział też, że Apple w pewnym momencie myślało o wyposażeniu wszystkich modeli iPhone’a 13 w czujnik LiDAR, ale z jakiegoś powodu Apple nie realizuje swoich początkowych planów.
W swoim tweecie Dylan nazwał tegorocznego iPhone’a zarówno iPhone’em 13, jak i iPhone’em 12S, co oznacza, że nie wyklucza spekulacji, że telefony iPhone w tym roku nie są w rzeczywistości wystarczająco dużym ulepszeniem swojego poprzednika. Zamiast tego prawdopodobnie będą to stopniowe aktualizacje w stosunku do zeszłorocznego iPhone’a 12, a więc iPhone’a 12S. Warto zauważyć, że raport powołujący się na łańcuchy dostaw potwierdził, że iPhone 2021 firmy Apple będzie nosił nazwę iPhone 13, a nie iPhone 12S.

Apple prawdopodobnie wypuści je we wrześniu.
