Słowacka firma Klein Vision właśnie zakończyła testy prototypowego latającego pojazdu. AirCar wykonał 35-minutowy lot pomiędzy międzynarodowymi lotniskami w Nitrze i Bratysławie na Słowacji.
Hybrydowy samochód-samolot AirCar jest wyposażony w silnik BMW i zasilany jest zwykłym paliwem. Twórca wynalazku, prof. Stefan Klein, powiedział, że może przelecieć około 1000 km na wysokości 2500 m i jak dotąd spędził 40 godzin w powietrzu. Przekształcenie go z samochodu w samolot zajmuje 2 minuty i 15 sekund.
Wąskie skrzydła składają się wzdłuż boków samochodu. Po wylądowaniu w Bratysławie, jak donosi BBC, prof. Klein – złożył skrzydła i jak gdyby nic, zjechał prosto z pasa startowego i pojechał do miasta.
Sam Klein jest przekonany, że jego trzeci prototyp jest gotów na kolejny etap preprodukcji. Dwuosobowy AirCar jest w stanie lecieć z prędkością 170 km/h (nieco mniej niż prędkość maksymalna – 190 km/h) i według Kleina wysokość przelotową osiągnął na pułapie 2,4 km. Był także w stanie wykonywać ostre zwroty o 45 stopni podczas testów manewrowych.
